I am a multidisciplinary artist based in the UK,  drawn to processes that remain open and porous, tending to allow my work to emerge through experimentation with different materials, often thinking about the mimetic energy exchange between our bodies and the world. We are now living increasingly with the affects of climate de-stabilisation where nature can no longer be pushed into the background of human experience and seen as something to be exploited and controlled rather something we are woven into.  I am interested in how natures’ growth patterns and forms are mirrored in our own bodies,  thinking about how we might in some sense reverberate with these old models, which lay in dormant state as a kind of inner-side of life, like a memory or habit of form that resonates and echoes within us.

I am often seeking to apply gestures, habits and rituals such as wrapping, covering, sewing, glueing that we perform as acts of protection, healing, sheltering, nourishing and cleansing. Working with various materials such as fabrics, glue, pigment, wax, herbs and beads I am trying to perform a re-materialisation of human-made models and copies of the world, such as maps and weather forecast. I am interested to see how new images might grow or exude from existing images, allowing the materials themselves to resonate, to grow and make manifest new territories or new weather patterns. These new surfaces conceal old information and reveal a fragmented swamp-like bodily language,  one weighed down and enmeshed in the world. The maps or weather forecasts can no longer be read or used in the same way and become more like human relics left behind and reclaimed by nature.
